Transmission and Solar Projects Downstream of KGL in Planning Phase

ZESCO’s planning portfolio confirms that there are active developments for a 200 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project downstream of Kafue Gorge Lower in Chirundu District.

ZESCO’s planning portfolio confirms that there are active developments for a 200 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project downstream of Kafue Gorge Lower in Chirundu District. The project is intended to complement the hydropower plant, providing greater stability in times of low water flow and helping to meet peak demand. zesco.co.zm

In addition, infrastructure works are planned or underway to upgrade transmission lines to allow for more efficient evacuation of power from the KGL station to the national grid. These upgrades are expected to reduce losses and improve reliability for consumers.
