Kafue Gorge, June 15, 2025 – In a landmark gesture of community support, Kafue Gorge Lower (KGL) officially handed over a newly constructed 1x3 classroom block and electrified a local community school, including teachers’ houses, for the very first time.
The project marks a major milestone in KGL’s commitment to social responsibility and improving the quality of education in surrounding communities. With the installation of electricity, students and teachers will now benefit from modern learning environments, extended study hours, and improved teaching conditions.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, KGL representatives highlighted that the initiative goes beyond infrastructure—it is about empowering the next generation with opportunities for a brighter future.
“This project demonstrates our dedication to uplifting communities where we operate. By electrifying the school and providing additional classrooms, we are ensuring that both teachers and learners have the tools they need to excel,” said a KGL official.
The newly built classroom block will help decongest learning spaces, while the electrification of teachers’ houses is expected to improve staff retention and motivation, ultimately enhancing the overall learning experience for students.
Local leaders and parents expressed gratitude to KGL for its support, noting that the electrification will also benefit the broader community by enabling access to evening literacy programs and community gatherings.
Through this initiative, KGL has reaffirmed its commitment to education, sustainable development, and the well-being of local communities, aligning with its broader corporate social responsibility goals.
